Any good tests for performance?

My new Macbook seems to be no faster, no better than my old, old ibook which I still have up. Mail is especially slow in sending but Web use also pitifully slow.

What can I do to check it out? I have done the DiskUtility thing and not much more.

Any advice?

MacBook 7, 2.4 GHz, Mac OS X (10.6.7), iPad, iPhone 3Gs ( 4.3.2)

If your problems are all internet-related and the newer, faster machine isn't any better, it's likely that your internet connection is the problem rather than the computer. Try doing an internet speed test, using a site like:

http://www.speedtest.net/

(I dunno if that's the best one to use, it's just the one I know of.)
