Bundled software on applications install disk does not install

Hi all,

My Macbook Pro early 2011 came with the OSX installation disk and an Applications Install Disk.

On the Application Install Disk is a package called "Install Bundled Software". Since I have Applecare I assumed TechTool etc would be on this disk and perhaps a few extra's (it is after all 4 Gb of stuff).

When I double click it, it checks if it can be installed, an than tells me it can not be installed on this Mac.

How can I overcome this particular issue?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Erik-Jan

I'm starting to think this may be something else.

TechTool is a 3rd Party Software. Not made by Apple.

Have you tried Disk Utility, to do a repair?

With that same install disk. If you leave it in your DVD drive & restart your mac, and hold down D, it will boot you into the Apple Hardware Test, which is similar to TechTools. There you can do a full diagnostic.

Hi AussieDJ,

Strange, getting help from the other side of the world ;-)

Ok I accept that I can get to Apple Hardware Test without the software on this DVD.

However, what software is on this disk? I have no clue, since it's an install bundle, and I do not get far enough to have the option to install anything...

Just popped it in now for you. It has Xcode, which is a programming suite of tools for writting your own software etc. iLife, such as Garage Band & iMovie. All of which (Except Xcode) will already be installed on your mac. So it's really sort of a backup.

You most likely will never use Xcode. It's more for programmers.

Thanks for that,

Well, actually I was about to do some programming, although I didn't at first aim for Xcode.

I'm still puzzled why the software decides that I can not install it. Especially since this is a brand new Mac, and the DVD came with it...

Knowing the contents now though, I'll try and find other sources of info. I do hope there are not extra templates for iDisk etc on this disk that are normally not installed. Otherwise I don't know how to get to them, yet.

I'll await an answer for the hiccup on install from Apple support themselves to see what's going on. But at least I can now await it.

Thanks for your help, mate!
