Re: Wireless Keyboard Dysfunction

Dear Apple Support;

Like many other users of your wireless keyboard I too am having difficulties when the batteries need changing. The battery indicator reads full, but the keyboard stops working. When I change the batteries my bluetooth becomes dysfunctional preventing the keyboard from being found.

After much sleuthing in techno chat sites regarding this common problem, the solution was buried in a response which said the writer was told by the Apple Care personnel that the solution was shutting down I-Mac, disconnecting the power cord, waiting a minute or so, replugging the cord, and using bluetooth to find the keyboard.

It works, now please, if there is no fix that can be applied, advise purchasers that when changing the batteries: 1. shut down the computer, 2. unplug the power cord in back, 3. replace the batteries properly (test by turning on the power & green light) 4. plug power cord back in, 5. activate the power button. When the computer is powered up, use the bluetooth icon in the upper right hand corner of the desktop to reconnect with the wireless keyboard.

I will use this reset technique when changing the mouse battery as well. I hope this helps others with similar problems.

Very truly yours;

Eugene J. Piazza
