iPod Shuffle 4th Generation that will not charge (no light) and won't register on Windows.

Hi,

If anyone could help I'd much appreciate it. I recently bought a 4th generation shuffle and it doesn't seem to be able to charge/synch/be registered. I've used three different USB leads to connect it to both my laptop and a mains charger but it doesn't change. I thought I might have a faulty headphone port but it registers the headphones themselves (I can hear it telling me to upload songs onto it in order to play them when I press play or frantically press anything to try and get a response). When there is a light it is only for a split second (either amber or green).

Cheers in advance.

Josh

Heya Josh!

Sometimes it can be as simple as not completely plugged in.

This article shows how the iPod should appear:

If it is plugged in, make sure you have iTunes 10.

You can check to see if you have updates in iTunes by going to Help > Check for Updates

You also want to be sure you are connected to a USB 2.0 port

Sometimes on a desktop the front ports leech from the back and become only 1.1 USB, so always check the back ports.

If these do not work you can always check the steps in this article to see if any of these solutions help.

Hope this helps!
