using iStat pro I see Remote Control Processor at 150%.

What is this and why is it running all the time?

Snow Leopard


(fan runs loud a lot; battery gets very hot; two batteries melted within 1 year of another...so I am monitoring what is going on)

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.7), 17" bought 1997

open Applications/Utilities/Activity Monitor (or click the little icon at the left of istat pro)


Locate the process named Remote Control Processor (if it's not visible - ensure that 'all processes' is selected at the top), select it & click the blue 'Inspect' button - then choose the 'open files & ports' tab.


The top line of that list should show exactly where this process is - we can likely work it out from there.
