what is avgcmgr

Lately I have noticed that the fan on my macbook don't turn off and I am seeing a program in Activity Monitor called AVGCMGR which is taking almost all the resources. If I force quit the instances of the program everything goes back to normal but when I restart my computer they open again at the background. Anyone knows how to get rid of this permanently?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.6)

I Googled AVGCMGR and it is part of an antivirus program......

I don't use it but from your description you would need to unistall it from your MacBook as opposed to just quiting the proccess via Activity Monitor......

You should be able to not have it load at startup by going into your 'Loggin Items'.... System Preferences >Accounts >Loggin Items....

I wish it was, I had AVG's linkscanner for Mac installed- Here's what I have done this far.

1. Used App Cleaner to get rid of AVG LinkScanner on Mac.

2. Found the avgcmgr Preference File in WIN7

3. Was still getting the process in OS X using all of my CPU.

4. Realized that I really didn't uninstall the AVG thing on my mac- used their uninstaller

5. Been 15-20 mins now and it hasnt started the avgcmgr process

I'll update shortly
