Fast Forward will not work

I imported video in both MPEG-4 and AVI but with neither will IMovie allow me to use the Fast-forward function (it's Greyed out)... Any ideas would be appreciated!

I originally created these videos in Camtasia 1.2, but when I found out that Camtasia's editing software didnt have a fast-forward function, I thought I would try to export it and try the video clip in iMovie 11'. I first did this as an MPEG-4, and when the fast-forward didn't work for that, I thought I would try AVI to see if it would help.

Divide movie into clips at point where fast forward is needed. Select the now divided clip. Select Clip from top menu then Fast forward. Select desired speed increase from list. Continue to rest of your movie ...

Right-click on your event clip and see if it offers to Optimize Media. If so, optimizing will let fast forward work.

And don't forget, you have to start a new Project after import. Else, the features in question will be dimmed out in the various menues.
