Can anyone tell me? I have an old (about 6 year old) Mac. I made the mistake of upgrading it to leopard. Then realized I need it to be able to run some old 0s 9 software. Can I reinstall the Panther CD without formating the disk?

Use the Disk Utility in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder to create a partition for the older OS. That OS must be at least as new as the computer.

There is always a risk you might need to erase the drive. Thankfully, if the question is regarding a dual G5, your machine supports two internal hard drives built-in I would recommend adding a second hard drive. 10.2 is not Panther. 10.3 is Panther. 10.2 is Jaguar.
