Have you tried the standard fixes:
- Reset the iPod
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore the iPod via iTunes. First from backup and if problem persists restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

Reset has not worked. About to restore from itunes.
Thank you for your quick response.
itunes restore was unsuccessful as well (from backup).
iPod touch may need a DFU mode restore, or a force restore of iOS 4.3.3
DFU did the trick, thank you!
Well the fix was short-lived. I did another DFU from my most recent backup (I now have a choice of 3) and that failed to work as well.
I also tried a subsequent reset. Any other suggestions? Is there a way to reload just iOS 4.3.2 without going through yet another data restore as well?
Can you email me?, my email is len.kagamine16@yahoo.com
I know how to restore you back to iOS 4.3.2 but Apple may not allow me to disclose details publicly
Since my accelerometer works fine with iOS 4.3.3 I doubt that 4.3.3 has anything to do with your problem.
Do a clean factory restore of 4.3.3 and see if that helps.
I also have a 4G with 4.3.3 working fine but I've heard of some people with major issues and have had to go back.
There really is no easy way of going back.
For what it's worth there are always posts from people claiming problems with each and every iOS release. Usually these reports are isolated and it's difficult to say whether there is any problem associated with a release or if the problem is just coincidental. When others don't have the problem using the same iOS software then the problem is likely due to failing hardware (or, perhaps, some unique App). Remember, there are millions of people with these devices and those who have no problems don't post on these forums.
iOS can be downgraded by changing the com.iTunes file in Windows or Mac, and changing the server where the signatures are checked, I've done it on my Mac. Once changed you may downgrade to Any previous iOS version including the original in this case iOS 4.1
Thank you for your responses. I will try a DFU & restore as a new ipod and see if that works.
It might be caused by an APP...
As I was prepping for the next DFU, the APPLE logo came on after I pugged the turned off unit into itunes.
Just for grins I tried my Clinometer APP and guess what, I'm back in business.
I think it may have been caused by a Sudoku APP that froze while changing orientation.
Thank you all!
Well, I THINK IT'S TIME FOR THE TRASH BIN!
I did yet another DFU with a reset as a new ipod, and it still will not work.
AARRGGGH!
My ipod touch Accelerometer stopped working.
