It appears to go beyond the typical wait and see scenario and this is likely not to get resolved any time soon. I think it is just a design flaw that can't be overcome with the current components. I have read where others have returned one, only to get one even worse. As such, my minor bleeding is worth living with vs. the chance of getting one worse than I have.

I really agree with you. I bought the first one 3 weeks ago, it was slightly bleeding. I took it to apple store and they exchanged me a "new one" (brown box). It was worse than my first one. So I returned it and got my money back. I decided to wait a few months. The funny thing is once you have it, you cannot live without it anymore. Plus I bought so many apps just for the iPad:( So finally I decided to try another one last night. I brought back home, the screen bleeding was all the way cross the bottom of the screen...I had to return it today! Now I really don't know what to do...my friends call me OCD and all I have is this stupid smart cover. I know apple won't fix this problem soon...and I'm sure they are still shipping iPads with screen bleeding. I'm just so disappointed with Apple's quality control. Those genius in apple store are kind of helpless with this issue:(

I'm on the same boat, currently writing this with my second iPad 2. My first had less bleeding than this one. The apple store had the courage to tell me you can only exchange for bleeding once, so the first time I exchanged I had to change the model. I have an appointment on Tuesday and plan to do what some others seem to have done, which is to have the sales rep take the new one and old one to the back and check both out for bleeding to see if it's any better.

I had such high hopes because everything I have ever ordered from Apple has been perfect, and i have been buying Apple products for years. However, my iPad came today and there is such a major bleed on the bottom that is very distracting. Unfortunately, I had it engraved, but I'm going to call them to see if it can be exchanged. I have seen others that were worse, and others that were perfect. I paid $893 for it and I was willing to keep it if the bleed was minor, but I tried it and all I can see is this bright light at the bottom. It's not noticeable with the dock in place, but otherwise it is very noticeable. If they won't exchange it or if they exchange it only to give me another defective one, I'm going to be really angry. I don't know how on earth they can sell these defective iPads and then say. "You can only have one exchange." There has to be something that could be done legally.

I received my iPad 2 April 28 one dead pixel and light bleeding issue discovered . I exchanged it and the new one had significant less light bleeding I picked it up July 13.. As with other posts I have been reading I decided I am going to sit tight for now and see what happens.I will will document it with Apple if the light bleeding persists or gets worse. Apple Care and support is fantastic and we need to give them a chance to rectify the situation after all many of these units are built in China where sometimes quality control is lacking. I am sure that when they resolve it they will fix our iPad 2's or they may offer some kind of Apple Store credit in a predetermined amount. I am buying Apple Care Insurance to extend my warranty & I suggest you also do so in case the issue is not resolved in the one year warranty period. Apple has been very good with their customers I have been buying from them since 1985 & the IIC computer. They have been a few bumps in the road but Apple always came through and then some to satisfy me and I am sure that is the way they treat everyone.

As I stated above My iPad 2 has very little light bleeding as of getting my first one replaced on July 13 and I am riding this one out for now. I found a link to what the problem may be so I am passing it along. Apparently the manufacture company of the screen is LG is the culprit of bad screens here is the web link.

Well, I called Apple and they told me that I could either send it back for an exchange or take it to my local Apple store, and if they had the model I wanted, they would exchange it. I chose to go to the store, and as it happened, they had one just like mine in stock (minus the engraving, of course). The exchange went smoothly and the one they gave me was fine. The screen doesn't have any light bleed. I guess you can't expect all products to be perfect, but I guess I was spoiled after buying so many Apple products with no issues in the past.

I just purchased a new iPad 2 last week (at&t 3G model). It took it into a dark room to see what this "bleeding" issue is supposed to be. Nothing, perfect. I would bet serious money that my experience is that of the vast majority of users. I do not consider myself to be one of the "lucky" ones. I consider myself to be in the normal iPad buyer group.

I found this page bc I've had my ipad2 for 6 months, and the screen bleeding just started. Noticeable on startup, and across the entire Home Button side.

Not sure what to do. I got it from Best Buy (live in Minneapolis), and I'm contemplating getting their "trade in" service so I can just upgrade to the ipad3 when it comes out. I think I'd get $250 in credit if I trade this in before June '12.

That, or I'm worried the issue will progressively get worse since it just started after half a year's use. In that case, I'd have to roll the dice with a trade in from the Apple store. Would do that straight away, but hearing som stories about trade ins being worse has me skeptical.
