I have an iPhone 4 and I am getting an iPad 2 this weekend and I was wondering if I am able to hook up the new iPad 2 to itunes and sync it to my iphone settings so that my contacts, email, apps, pics etc will be on my iPad 2. If this isnt possible is there a way to get that info on my iPad2 without manually entering that data in and downloading the apps over again via mobile me etc. Thanks

I don't have an iPhone but it should work for you.  You might have to play around with the iTunes settings.  Give it a shot.

You can't copy data directly from the iPhone to the iPad, nor can you restore an iPhone backup to the iPad. Contacts should be synced with an application on your computer so that they can be restored to a replacement device if yours is lost.stolen/damaged. Likewise all purchases, photos, videos, voice memos etc. should be copied to your computer on a regular basis to guard against loss. You should configure your device's email client so that it either doesn't delete messages or does so only after a period of time for just the same reasons. Neither my iPhone or iPad delete messages they have fetched, this is left to my desktop email client which deletes old copies on the server after 30 days. With this sort of set up all the data you should wish to transfer to the device will already be at hand on your computer or your mail server. All you need to do is configure it...

I do have all the data on my iphone backed up on my itunes. So youre saying that if I hook up my ipda to itunes a backup/sync from iphone option will be available for me to click?

    No.

Your Photos, contacts, calendars and apps are on your computer.

    Sync all this from iTunes.

    Don't sync/restore from the iPhone.

I believe so -- I will have the opposite situation soon when I buy an IPhone.  Currently, I sync 2 Ipads and 2 IPods to ITunes on my Mac and everything works fine.  You may need a couple times to get it just the way you want it.  I had to figure out the transfer of contacts and photos - they didn't just happen the 1st time.  Now they sync automatically.

The one question I have is on Apps for IPad only -- I'm assuming they  won't transfer to my IPhone but I won't know until I actually do it..

    As opposed to automatically click?

As you will need to select what you want to sync.
