I just brought a Mac Pro 8 core, but it doesn't have Mag Safe cable input, so the screen won't work, it has a Mini Display Port and USB, I connected both, but no luck.
The Magsafe is a convenience OUTPUT of the display, for charging your MacBook. If the display does not power on, you overlooked the power Brick in the box or it is defective.
Be sure the Mini DisplayPort connector is pushed so far into the jack that all the metal disappears.
Thanks, it was just the cable the wasn't plugged in properly, I feel pretty silly right now.
There are a whole lot of contacts in that little connector. It takes a lot of force to seat it.
I would not have known the answer if it were not a problem for a lot of people.
