iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases

I can't play any Protected AAC audio files in iTunes. I get a message saying, "This computer is not authorized to play..." Would you like to the authorize it? I enter my Apple ID and password, click Authorize, and then get the message, "This computer already authorized." I have screen shots if you wish to see those.

I have already tried these steps: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389

Could you post some minimal diagnostics for us, please?

In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck all four boxes, as per the following screenshot:

User uploaded file

... and click "Next".

When you get through to the final screen:

User uploaded file

... click the "Copy to Clipboard" button and paste the diagnostics into a reply here.

(I'm checking to see if there's some strange going on with the fairplay installed on your system. Sometimes that can cause idiosyncratic authorisation troubles.)

b noir,

Thanks for your response. Here is the information you requested. Please note, the Device Sync Tests failed because I don't have an iPod with me at the moment to attach.

Also, I have contacted the iTunes store for help twice in the past three days and never got a response back. I thought they replied within 24 hours?

I also tried deauthorizing the computer and reauthorizing it to no luck.

That's interesting. Your Fairplay looks okay. But, plausibly:

Windows Firewall is on.
iTunes is NOT enabled in Windows Firewall.

... the firewall situation may be blocking the authorisation attempts.

If you enable iTunes in the firewall, as per the following document:

How to enable iTunes in the Windows Vista and Windows 7 Firewall

... does an authorisation attempt finally stick?

Jul 10, 2014 9:18 PM in response to MrHappyGoLucky12

Hello, I was having this exact same problem. A few songs would constantly ask for authorization then say the computer is already authorized, and then still not play. I went through all of apple supports suggestions of authorizing as the right id, or as an administrator, or changing the user thing, and deleting the sc info file. Nothing worked. I noticed that the same songs that wouldn't work on that computer did work on another of my computers. I also used the diagnostics to try and find a solution. I had the same results as mrhappygolucky12 even though windows firewall showed iTunes as having access.. weird.

I solved the problem by deleting the songs in question, then re downloading them. I know that doesn't fix the problem with those specific files, but since iTunes doesn't limit the number of times you download a song onto an authorized computer that specific point is moot.

Anyway.. I hadn't found this solution on the net, and since this was the first forum I found on this topic, I thought I would save someone hours of testing different files to try and find a common denominator between the files that were not playing, in an effort to find a solution. (mine was they were all from the album 111 opera masterpieces). I know this reply is a few years out of date... but the problem seems to have persisted.

I hope this helps Someone.

Valyk
