Is buying a MacBook really worth it?

I have recently looked into getting a MacBook Pro through my school. I have read and read reviews about it. I want to make sure since I am spending so much money, that its worth it. Who better to ask then MacBook Pro users?

I am looking to get the 13 inch. I have read negative things about the glossy screen and bad graphics, as well as the screen shutting off.

Also, does the Apple Protection Plan cover my laptop if I drop it and crack the screen?

Thanks everyone!! I appreciate it so so much!

Hi d,

There are issues with some percent of every product ever built, and Macs are no exception. Personally, I do not like the reflection/glare from a glossy display and would never buy one; obviously many people are different. I'd go in and look for yourself. No, APP does not cover accidental or physical damage. Do I think buying a Mac portable is worth it? Well, I've been doing it since 1991 or so . . . .

my 2¢

I have been using windows based computers for many years and then switched to Mac. I still have few windows based desktops and laptops at home....

first of all what makes Mac great? I would say its OS with its simplicity, user friendliness, flexibility (you can run different OS on same machine) and security as well .

.... and then it is just a question do you need laptop or desktop and what are you going to do with it. Defining your needs helps to decide between MP MB MBP MBAir

the only bad thing I can say about Apple computers it is glare screens, therefore my MBP is antiglare. When I was planning to change my desktop computer iMac was skipped just because of its glare screen and I bought Mac Pro.

And the last thing to say is the Apple design they are pretty and every single thing is designed and deliberated well.

Hi , it's like difference between buying low end suv and q7. You may get functionality wise same but than there's something " class apart". Having said so, see following points-:

- speed : the time taken to start or shut down is in seconds in mbp whereas mins in others

- speed of applications

- no virus , malware, spyware etc as mbp is on unix based os

- the sound picture is better

- cross application available if u still wanna use packages of other notebook

- MBP is class n u will fall in love once u use it n love to show all others with proud, as I said like u are driving Q7......

I am using mac products iMac , MacBook pro 15, iPhone , iPad and iPod for many years and am very happy with all of them

Good luck
