"We're sorry, we cannot complete your request on the iTunes store at this time." http://img809.imageshack.us/img809/7452/screenshot20110601at608.png <- what gives? One moment I'm downloading an iTunes movie rental and a bunch of music, the next second every completed download, attempted new purcase, and trying to start playing the partially downloaded movie resulted in this error.

I paused the downloads and restarted iTunes. Downloads and Rentals were gone in the sidebar and every single secure request to the iTunes store (trying to login, trying to check for available downloads, trying to buy anything else) results in this error. However the music that had sucessfully downloaded was present in my iTunes library. However nothing new shows in my 'Recently Added' playlist... weird.

I then tried restarting my router, ADSL modem, and my Mac. No good. I tried a different OSX user account. No good. I tried logging into the UK store (I'm usually in the NZ one) where I also have an account - no good, same error.

iTunes store pages load, but anything secure results in this error :-(

What has happened? One second all is well, the next all secure iTunes connections result in "We're sorry, we cannot complete your request on the iTunes store at this time."

Yea the same is happening to me.. It was working just fine a few hours ago. I guess the server is too busy and apple should be able to fix it soon.

Frankly, you should be glad about it. Thousands of people have had their accounts hacked, their credit cards, gift cards and bank accounts totally emptied. This has been going on since 2007 and Apple refuses to heighten their security nor do they have a standard policy on refunds, often sticking the customer with the price of the theft and closing their accounts thereby rescinding all access to any content the user might have previously purchased. Use Amazon for mp3s, their prices are cheaper anyway.

I always try to download movies and TV shows in advance, although this is the first time in quite a while that I've had problems with it on Apple's end -- normally I'm just worried about my internet flaking out, which was happening pretty regularly for a while, or just slowing down way too much and taking hours to download anything. It's a good approach when you can manage it as it eliminates the risk of this sort of thing messing up your whole night. If you still have enough movie night left tonight though, you could try renting something from Amazon. It's streaming rather than download, so it's vulnerable to inconsistencies in internet speed, and it tends not to be as good quality as iTunes video (at least in my experience), but at least you might still be able to get a movie in tonight.

Yeah - Amazon streaming won't work here in New Zealand. iTunes store is back up for me, but it's too late to save movie night. Better luck next week I guess... :-\

Anyone know *** it went down in the first place? Not that it really matters, but for the sake of curiosity - and now having nothing better to do for what's left of tonight - I wondered.

Cheers to those who replied so I knew it wasn't just me.

So, as soon as i open itunes, i get this message, except it's not the one with the red X on it, it just says "We're sorry. we cannot complete your request on the itunes store at this time" and the same message appears when trying to make a purchase. HOWEVER< i am also getting an authorization block on my Apple TV for items that have been purchased for a while... this is so frustrating... anyone have an idea? it'll be 3 days before "the geniuses" get back to me

We're sorry, we cannot complete your request on the iTunes store at this time.
