Will the latest Mac Mini's HDMI port send audio and video with 7.1 surround? What about 1080p?

I'd like to add a Mac Mini to my home theater. I had an original Mac Mini, and id did not play back my h264 1080p edits to my TV through the DVI (HDMI adapter) port, and the DVI didn't support audio (I had to use an optical audio cable to my receiver).

I'd like to know if the new Mac Mini supports 1080p playback and if it sill support 7.1 theater audio to my receiver?

Yes it can do 7.1, yes it can do 1080p

However at the moment it cannot do Dolby True-HD or DTS-HD audio (as used on Blu-Ray discs). It can do the surround sound used by DVDs and Apple iTunes Store movies.
