Use Automator to convert wmf files

Ok - I have Amadeus II, Logic Studio, and VLC media player....but I have HUNDREDS of these wmf files that my friend recorded in the field and I just want to listen to them like a playlist (not in itunes). I thought I could make a workflow app in Automator but it seems Automator doesn't recognize the wmf just as os x doesn't. How can I make this work? Thanks!!

Can you convert them to another format (AIFF) with any of the tools available? Audacity, etc?

Convert them then load into iTunes for making a playlist of them, then listen.

indeed, but the problem is that audiacity 2 doesn't batch process. Logic....hmmm actually I might be able to load them as a couple hundred tracks and export the tracks....

well I'm really trying to come to terms with automator and the 'services' business so if there IS anyway to do it, I'd love to know.

ok - so I assumed Amadeus and Logic could work with them ,but it turns out the only program I have that can open them is one at a time with VLC.
