Also when I add a url list to a collection page and then delete all the links I'm left with a blank url list showing in preview page in iTunes. This should not happen, the admin guide says -
"To delete a collection page URL list, delete all the links in the list. When you publish, if you have a URL list with no links, iTunes U Public Site Manager hides the empty URL list."
It doesn't. At least it doesn't for me when I preview the collection in iTunes.
I'm pretty sure that the copyright text and the website link are taken from the <copyright> and <link> elements respectively of our rss feed. I suspect that I just need to update the rss feed and refresh it in Public SiteManager. I'll confirm that when I'm back in the office on Monday.
The issue with the empty url list is unsolved but it may be a bug in preview (our site isn't live yet). When our site launches - hopefully in the next week or two - I'll know for certain. I've been in contact with someone at Apple about this and one or two other iTunes U issues so I may yet get a definitive answer before our site goes live.
Yes, the website link on the collection pages is taken from the <link> element at the channel level of your rss feed.
Edit the url in the link element of your rss feed and then refresh the collection public site manager.
Copyright information can be changed in the same way by editing the <copyright> element.
You'll have to excuse my ignorace, but how do I edit the RSS feed? for the basic stuff I have been editing I've used the Podcast command - I've had a look at the Podcast Manual Page and can't see a way to edit it with that. You can set the Copyright using:
sudo podcast --setfeedproperty --feed_uuid UUID --property_name copyright --value VALUE
Or is there a .plist file I need to edit?
re: editing the rss feed. It depends how you're creating your rss feeds. For instance, we use a bespoke sql database to generate our rss feeds, other institutions might code them by hand in a text editor or use a myriad of other software solutions.
You didn't say how you're creating your rss feeds but having Google'd 'sudo podcast' I'm making an educated guess that you're using Apple Podcast Producer or Telestream Episode Podcast. I'm not familiar with either of them so the best advice I can give would be to look at the documentation, or start another thread (there may be other people on here who use EP or PP), or contact the vendor.
