I need to make Safari keep/retain passwords to sites I visit all the time. Despite checking "Remember me?" or "Always log in," I keep having to re-enter passwords everytime I visit these sites.

Over and over again. It gets old.

Can somebody please help me? What steps do I need to take to make Safari retain passwords to these sites?

Not sure what the "cmd +" is, but the "User names and passwords" checkbox was already checked.

    thank you!

Cmd + , (pressing cmd and , keys together ⌘,) is a shortcut to Preferences.

If you clicked “Never for this Website” the last time you logged in to this webpage, remove the “never saved” designation.

Choose Safari > Preferences and click AutoFill.

Click the Edit button next to “User names and passwords.”

In the list of user names, find the website for which you want to save a password. The words “Passwords Never Saved” appear next to the website.

Select the website and click Remove.

    Click Done.

sorry, I didn't read that as "command plus comma"

As for the editing user names and passwords, none of the sites in question are in that list.

meaning...I ought to be able to get right in automatically..

    Quit Safari.

Open Keychain Access  (Applications/Utilities) Select Passwords on the left.

Delete the: Safari Forms Autofill keychain.

Relaunch Safari. Make sure User names and passwords is still selected in Preferences/Autofill.

    See if that helps.
