Safari can't verify facebook.com

I've read the posts I could find on this topic and my situation is different I think). I'm getting the alert "Safari cannot verify www.facebook.com" when I'm not on facebook. I get it when I'm browsing other websites. It happens constantly, sometimes multiple times on the same website & a page loads or refreshes. it,s as if it's constantly trying to connect to FB through the other site...like its re-dialing or something!

I do NOT get the alert when connecting to FB. That loads with no issue.

What can i do to make it stop?

I've cleared my cache, deleted cookies, etc. To no avail.

iPad, iOS 4

Perhaps a reboot will solve this: Hold the power and home buttons at the same time for at least 10 seconds (hold past the swipe to shut down bar if it appears) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons.

So far, so good! Thanks for the suggestion to reboot. It's the first thing I'd try on my PC, but for some reason I don't think of doing it on my ipad.

I'll mark you as Correct if the problem doesn't come back after a day or two.

It won't likely come back. And for the future, I hope you downloaded the Facebook app from the App Store. That's the way to check in to Facebook. Not through Safari..........

Unfortunately, it did. just got it while on FB this time.

tried the FB app and didn't like it. But if thats the way to get rid of this, I guess I'll have to try again.

Sorry you don't like the FB app, but it is the best way to do it on iPad.....
