You place them in the Video library of iTunes and sync them to your iPod. The format of the videos have to be compatible with the iPod. In the Advanced tab in iTunes there is an option to:Create iPod and iPhone Version. That converts some formats. The4G iPod supports these formats:

  • H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
  • MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
  • Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format

If the videos are in your iTunes library and are in a compatible format, this is selected under the Movies tab for your iPod Touch sync preferences with iTunes.

If the videos are not in your iTunes library and are in a compatible format, under the Photos tab for your iPod Touch sync preferences with iTunes select Include Videos. Place the videos in a folder of photos that is selected to be transferred to your iPod Touch followed by a sync or place the videos in a folder by themselves and select this folder to be transferred to your iPod Touch under the Photos tab followed by a sync.
