Open DNS prevents your ISP from redirecting your browser.
Open System Preferences / Preferences then select the Network tab. Click the Advanced tab then click the DNS tab.
Enter these numbers exactly as you see them here.
Click +
208.67.222.222
Click +
208.67.220.220
Then click OK.

In Firefox > preferences > advanced > general; There's an option to warn when a site tries to redirect, and it prevents the redirection unless you click to allow.
I can't find any similar function in Safari.

In my case the redirects were coming from the wireless router. I hit the reset button on the router and 100% of my redirects have been eliminated for more than 2 months now.
