Reload bookmarks in menu

I recently reloaded my i-mac running saf5.0.5. I saved all my bookmarks in a file on disk (all 256). The only way apple support could figure out how to reload them was as a tab on the menu bar. Any way to put them all at once back to where they should be, the bookmark menu?

thanks,

christopher gill
