Not a scanner that requires a driver or use usb or The Liked so 89% no
You could use the built-in camera to 'scan' a document. This does assume that you have the iPad 2.
Ditto this. I would love to be able to hook a Fujitsu ScanSnap up to my iPad. I have a few scanner apps that work fine but I would love to scan multiple pages, do OCR, and save to some cloud storage like dropbox.
Yes, you can.
It will not do anything or function in any way but you could plug the USB end of the cable into a scanner.
Why would you though?
I would have agreed with everyone who posted above, until I wandered around Brookstone today. They actually have a scanner dock for iPad. I didn't really check it out, but it seems to be a pretty new toy as it was displayed prominently at the entrance to the store.
Did I not say why Johnathan?

Were you responding to me and if you were, I'm not sure I understand what you meant.......
I was responding Johnathan Barger. Yes Johnathan I realize you could literally plug any USB device physically into the iPad adapter. I guess I should've been more explicit in saying I wanted to be able to connect the scanner AND have it work.
Indirect, but you could use a Scansnap with Evernote, and then read the scanned docs in Evernote on the iPad. http://www.evernote.com/about/partner/fujitsu/
If you get the latest HP Printer you can print, scan and copy wirelessly. I'm sure other brands also have the capabilities.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I think I will buy the Brookstone scanner and use that. I may look in the HP scanner but I don't need a printer or copy. I'm trying to reduce my PC footprint. 🙂
