No, there is no way to do this at the moment.
Agreed! we need this history removed. Apple can create amazing software, would it be that much more difficult to add in a Delete History button?
no answer to the problem yet ?
Agreed. We should not be punished for choosing apps or books we no longer want or need. Just like I have to validate myself when I make a purchase, I should be able to validate a permanent deletion of items from my purchase history and off of icloud. And the whole hide/unhide option is really difficult to figure out on the different platforms. I have read the instructions multiple times and still have been unable to hide anything. This is ridiculous- icloud is no longer in beta, which was the original excuse for why this problem has not been addressed yet. Catch up to "Amazon Kindle" Apple and make this problem disappear forever along with those books/apps!!
I have passed over downloading many apps because of this problem. I wonder how long it would take apple to react to this if people complain enough AND let app companies know they won't be using their services anymore until there was a solution. Money talks!
where is the app store history
On your phone: App Store app, Updates, Purchased tab. Likewise iTunes store app, same place for music and videos.
On your computer: in iTunes, click on your Apple ID and choose Account. Then click on Purchase History.

I assume you also don't purchase from Amazon, because they won't delete your purchase history, or eBay for the same reason, and you never use a credit card, because not only won't they delete your purchase history but they will sell it to the highest bidder, and also provide it free to law enforcement authorities who ask. And you never write checks, because the images are preserved by your bank for 5 years. And you never use toll roads, because they record your license plate and thus know where you have been. Actually, you never drive, because police are increasingly recording license plates everywhere. And don't fly anywhere, either.
Mac App Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928
That is the link to Apple's solution to this issue (posted again for those coming to the thread late and jumping to the end). This effectively hides purchases from your devices. There is currently no option to completely delete all records of your purchases.
I am sure that is a smart perspective to have but you must admit you are contradicting yourself.
Why is the "Hiding and unhiding purchases" available for only mac and not the iPads?
If only the decision make gets a user perspective it will be nicer for us users. The banter on this forum hardly matters if the decision maker views it defensively than addressing the hypocrisy/non uniformity within the platform.
Huh?
Are you responding to the wrong person? If you can be specific about the contradiction in my post, that might be helpful.

I get your point. there are contradictions in saying we are okay with other services keeping history and we dont want ios to do so! I only mentioned that it would be nice to have the hide history (if not delete) on iPads too. If the feature/option is available on mac then there is no reason for it to be not on iPad/iPhones. Isn't it? (No offense intended)
Ah, yes. You were meaning to reply to Lawrence Finch and not me.
But yeah, the feature/option is available through all the devices. It hides pirchace history everywhere, across all your devices. It is just that the only way to access the hide/uhide controls is by logging into iTunes account info (via full iTunes software). I would suspect it is because it is a very new feature recently added (likely due to user's feedback) that it hasn't made it into the iTunes app account controls.

I just hooked up the iPhone to iTunes on PC and hid a few purchased apps on appstore. I give it a good 10 mins and then go to appstore >> purchased section on iPhone 5 with ios6.02.2 and the apps i hid aren't hid on iPhone.
I don't expect it to work on iPhone either but will check the same.
So " feature/option is available through all the devices" is not totally true.
This is the congruence I am speaking about with the platform. I am not meaning to put down the apple guys but they have got us used to a level of expectation now 😉 , this is just feedback!
I'd love to ignore it.. but even though it is HIDDEN it keeps coming up and asking me to update it! Wow.. how cool - I decided to try out an app to see if was any good.. and now it will live forever in my machine! (A Mac friend told me how to hide it.. but in this case 'Wunderlist' has found a way to ignore that setting. Now, every time I use my mac, I've got that app on my main screen with a bright red highlight to tell me I need to update an app I REALLY don;t want to have wasting my gtime or spece. But I guess Appl knows best what I need.
For you app vendors out there.. now I am *very* cautious about 'trying out' any app in case it too, will stay with me forever...
I know you own my Mac, Apple, and I am only renting it from you - but why not let me totally remove an app i do not care for? Have to admit, all of my other computers seem to support "delete app"...
It is not true that you cannot delete a purchase from amazon. I finally figured out how to delete a book permanently. You can only do it from your amazon account on a computer, and it takes a LONG time of syncing your devices, before the book disappears from the clouds on the devices, but it finally did and was totally deleted.
I too am unhappy that you cannot permanently delete apps. There are some that I'm happy to have history of in the cloud, and others which I downloaded not realizing I had to subscribe to use them, which I will never subscribe to, so I'd like to not have to sort thru them and see the update me requests, as everyone here has stated. I hope Apple is paying attention to the complaints...... And they should know that, yes, amazon has figured it out.
