No, there is no way to do this at the moment.
I feel the same way, Mightybees. Been fighting the urge to go elsewhere, hoping for a much quicker response, or at the very least, an acknowledgement of the problem. And should anyone have any doubts that it is in fact a big problem, just do a quick search for "avoid, remove, or delete Apple's purchase history" and you will no doubt see the endless lists of complaints. But it appears Apple's so excited with the release of this "make-everyone-happy-all-at-once" update that they don't seem to be listening to those of us for whom it's been a very bad update.
Lots of folks, probably without families of their own, and who can't relate to sharing their device with anyone, keep jumping onboard calling this a non-issue. The truth is it is a huge issue. Apple itself laid out ground rules so that parents would have greater, if not complete control over the apps, songs and books with explicit or adult content. In essence, they could not be viewed and/or installed in devices which are shared within the same network. But these yuppies really have no business here. It's parents and their children who Apple should be very concerned about.
For the time being my family's iPad is tucked away. I refuse to hand my children a device with content that will spark their curiosity in ways I never intended. I use it only occasionally, since I own an iPhone. But it feels like the $600+ I've invested in it for family use has gone down the toilet. Between the educational and productivity apps, games, songs and movies, plus its portability, the iPad (and iPod Touches that some families own) really make for worthwhile gadgets. But without good parental control over this stupid, stupid purchase history feature not only will my iPad not see the light of day, but I am also seriously considering other non-Apple alternatives to meet my family's needs.
Yea this is ridiculous. The devices you share in a household such as the iPad should not save the information you want to keep from others. The privacy and parenting problems that arise from this oversight are enourmous. Enough to keep me from sharing the iPad with my family, or letting my kids play a game on my iPhone.
Terrible.
well i am going to close my account with apple. this icloud history problem is so bad. there are people out there that their lives are going to be stuffed up due to this. i will never have n ipod, iphone, ipad, itunes. you have lost me apple. i have all of the above but will be getting rid of them. one can only hope this is the end of apple
what people do is up to them but when your history can not be deleted then that is a problem. ehd of story if you delete an app it should be gone. i am so ****** off with this icloud. i have set about closing down my account . apple your are a joke
I just can't believe that Apple has released this update with out checking this. Its so wrong that anyone who borrows my phone can see all the silly apps my daughter and I have put on the phone then deleted immediately!.
SORT IT OUT APPLE
😢😟😮😟
Weren't you aware that your purchase history has ALWAYS been available in iTunes? This is nothing new.
Paul,
Are you aware that it can be turned off?
Lawrence Finch (please read all the messeages before you post),
Yes, nearly EVERYONE that has posted complaints is entirely aware that the purchase list was always available in iTunes, and that there at least two ways to do this. THAT is not new, but THAT is not what we are discussing here.
THAT purchase history list is the most convoluted purchase history list in the history of purchase history lists, and I seriously doubt that any parent has ever been concerned with its contents or the fact that our children might reach it, even when they already have our passwords to make their purchases.
What IS being discussed here is the reconfiguring of THAT list into a list that is now included in the updates section of every device under the same network. An update that we were neither informed of nor given the option to agree to or opt out of. THAT list now contains the very icons and descriptions of every app ever purchased, including adult ones, which we would have preferred our children not to see.
Seems Apple is finding it difficult to see this too, and that's what's got people flocking here to voice their complaints.

But you can opt out.

Mig954,
No, you can't turn it off. You can log off, but you can't turn it off.
However, logging of is only a temporary fix, as temporary as locking your children out of the home while you watch a movie unsuitable for them. They will eventually want to get back in, so you give them a key. And when they do come back in, they sneak a peak at the movie you are watching, just what you wanted to avoid in the first place. The best thing is to keep them safe in the home while you watch your movie in another room, away from prying eyes, no peeking. NO peeking.
Apple needs to do this as well, set up parental controls that actually give a parent a separate password as administrator of the account. Or at the very least offer a slide solution to hide or remove the offending apps from the purchase history list.
I see your point.
Do the Parental Controls in iTunes include the iOS devices as well or just desktop version?
But you can opt out.

Mig954,
Thank you for pointing me in this direction. I had been to my account page several times since the update and had not seen this at all. Is this a recent option?
The only device available to manage was my own computer, not any of the devices I use such as my iPhone or iPad. I've opted out and the button has now dissapeared from my account page. I hope this actually does something.

Desktop iTunes has its own parental control features and do not branch out to the devices synced to that computer.

I am not sure how recent it is. I read about it in a previous post in this thread.
Mig954,
I don't really understand what this "opt out" feature does, but I know what it does not: it does not remove the "Purchased" feature from the "Updates" screen of either my iPhone or my iPad. On my desktop, iTunes Store still shows a link to "Purchased" and every app ever bought.
So, as yet no solution.
