ipad is stuck in shutdown mode?

New ipad, been using 3 days without trouble. Hit the full shutdown button tonight and now it is stuck, black screen, with the little wheel (a.k.a. pineapple) going round and round. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Here are three possible solutions:

1.) Hold the power button for 1 minute, and see if anything appears on the screen.

2.) Attempt a software restore (Open iTunes, connect your device, click on your device in iTunes, then click on the restore button)

3.) Attempt a software restore from DFU mode (Boot your device into DFU mode by plugging the device in, closing iTunes, holding the home and power buttons for 10 seconds, after those ten seconds are up, let go of the power button but continue holding the home button until iTunes relaunches (assuming you have iTunes set to open automatically when your device is connected)). If you do not have iTunes set up that way and it does not automatically launch, release the home button after another 10-15 seconds, then manually open iTunes. Hopefully you will recieve an alert that iTunes has detected a device in recovery mode. After this, proceed with a software restore. If none of these options work, a hardware component inside of the iPad may have come loose in such as way that the iPad is stuck in a boot loop. Is it safe to assume this device is not jailbroken?
