Free Upgrade to OS X Lion

Best way to get the real answer is to call Apple or visit an Apple Store and see what the people say.

I'm just about to buy an new imac and have the same questions. If you find out any more, please let me know.

Well, I wouldn't think they would offer it for free. I would of thought it would have to be sooner to the release date to get it free.

I found this in two articles about Lion:

The Mac OS X Lion Up-To-Date upgrade is available at no additional charge via the Mac App Store to all customers who purchased a qualifying new Mac system from Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller on or after June 6, 2011. Users must request their Up-To-Date upgrade within 30 days of purchase of their Mac computer. Customers who purchase a qualifying Mac between June 6, 2011 and the date when Lion is available in the Mac App Store will have 30 days from Lion’s official release date to make a request.

If you purchase a Mac on July 7th it should come with Lion pre-installed since Lion is being released July -- should it not? Or is apple going to be lazy and make you go and download it and install it yourself?

If Lion is released in late July or August, a system bought in early July wouldn't have it on it, hence the free upgrade.

Apple website says July http://www.apple.com/macosx/. So where do you get August?

probably anxious like me, Apple should announce what week in July when they do this...so far we are into week 2 and no lion yet

The developer gold was released on July 1, 2011. So the public release should be coming anytime soon. Yes, I am anxious. 😝 Mac Os X lion is 100 times better than snow leopard.
