It's probably due to a hardware malfunction, but try resetting your iPad by holding down both the Home and Lock buttons until the device restarts (ignore the power slider,) when it restarts, see if it can connect to WiFi.

If it doesn't, schedule an appointment at your local Apple Retail Store by typing in <location> Apple Store into a search engine.

I had this same thing happen to me with an iPad awhile ago, they'll either order in a new iPad or give you one on the spot, in and out.

I had a similar problem with mi iPhone 4s I don't know if this may works in your iPad but it works in my iPhone ,I restore the iPhone in iTunes using the latest iTunes ,I set it up as new phone I checked the wireless and it wasn't. Working yet ,so I let the battery die completely . When the iPhone was ready To use I check the Wireless icon and it was ok again ,the grey out color was gone and the Internet Was working againg and off course I set the Internet up Before to used it ,Just to remark turn the iPhone off will not work ,let the battery die. Best regards from Costa Rica

Go to the iPod home screen-----> tap settings-----> Tap the first option at the top which is "Wi-Fi"-----> Look at the box that says "choose a network..."-----> tap the network you are looking for and then enter a password if you have one set to that connection. If no password is needed it will then show a check next to the one you picked confirming the connection.

Try rebooting: hold home and lock button until logo appears. Ingore red bar.
