Jan 15, 2014 2:28 PM in response to walkerwrby DJPiggy,I don't if this helps, but when i have deleted an app from my iphone or ipad, i also go and delete it from my itunes account. this is to delete it "forever" so to speak. The app will no longer have a "icloud-download" symbol on it.
Here is what i do:
I log on to itunes. From there i click on appstore, then purcased, then apps. Here you have all your apps you have purchased and downloaded(also free ones).
The ones with "icloud-download" symbol on it, is the ones that are NOT currently on your iphone or ipad. And is most likely the ones you wanna get rid of. Just mouse over the app and the x it out. It should now be gone "forever". Well... untill you (wanna) download it again ;-)
But here is the different part. If you now search for the app, in appstore (on you iphone or ipad), it will be a "normal" download. You have to download it again so to speak, not from the cloud. As you will see, the app no longer have an "icloud-download" symbol on it.
But here something important regarding this method. You have to delete the app from your iphone or ipad first, before you delete it from your itune account.
Why? Because if you delete an app in the itunes account first and not on your phone, it will "replace" it self in your itunes account and icloud, the next time you do an backup. Why? Because it is still on your iphone or ipad, and that is whats being backed up.
I hope this helps.

Jan 15, 2014 3:45 PM in response to walkerwrby DJPiggy,Oh...
Forgot to mention one thing.
You don't delete them forever, you just hide them.
But thats a good thing, because then they will not bother you as much.
But Apple should do something about that.
One should be able to delete them from the hidden space as well.
If you wonder were you find the hidden apps, just go to account (click on your username), and its under 'itunes in the clouds' and then 'manage'.

On the iOS device itself, go to
settings -> iCloud -> storage & backup -> managae storage
click on the device name, and look at the list under Backup Options. The size there is the size of the backup for each app being backed up. THE APPS THEMSELVES ARE NOT BEING BACKED UP as they already reside for re-download at any time in the online stores own storage system. So what you see there is the size of the data for each app. Look there and you can see how big any particular games actual backup footprint is. You can also selective decide not to backup particular apps if you do not need them in the backup and want to reduce the total size of the backup.
Most games seem to me to not be too large at all, and certainly things like levels and scores should have a small memory footprint to them I would think. Also some online games store everything online anyway, so their backup footprint should be trivial.
I suppose some games may have fairly large backups. One of my few games is Slitherine's Battle Academy and its backup is over 800MB but I think it must be backing up your campaign maps and a lot of other data related to a particular stage in a campaign, so I can see how that would be large. Maybe other board-based strategy games are also large, if they have to backup graphics like maps and such. But something that is just storing scores, or a list of levels completed should be pretty small.

Jul 8, 2014 1:07 PM in response to walkerwrby pety0,I know that the apps I've already deleted aren't stored into my personal iCloud, more than sure that most of the community knows it. I just think that all of them want their purchased history nice and clean, do you know what I mean. By adding a delete option, a permanent one all of us are gonna be happy. Hiding them is a temporary option, you know. I have like hundred of unused apps left in my "Not on This iPhone" which I downloaded cus of boredom. I think that there was a problem with the songs, not being able to be deleted off the Cloud but it was sorted with iTunes Match. I know that songs aren't stored into my personal iCloud! You can check what's stored into your personal iCloud at the "Manage Storage" option. So yeah basicly an option of a permanent delete would be awesome.

There are apps appearing on the iCloud that I do not want there. I deleted them for a reason. How can I delete them from the iCloud.
You can manage your storage by upgrading your iCloud storage plan or reducing the amount of storage that you're using. You can reduce your iCloud storage by choosing which apps and backups to store, and you can move or delete documents, photos, and email messages that you no longer need.
the above comes from Apple!
So for all the people being rude and acting like they know something they don't and providing wrong information to others here that statement comes from Apple.
I do not store things on the cloud but I keep getting messages that I have to increase my storage and the only thing added is the pass from my phone and iPad. So people should educate themselves before giving others the wrong information. I have no documents and haven't taken pictures because of the storage and every time I upgrade the software I am told to increase iCloud storage. So it is the apps as stated FROM APPLE in the statement I pasted.
And it's wrong! The next tablet I get will not be Apple because of this scam.

Apr 23, 2015 7:52 AM in response to dc1191by Mr. Universe,Very good and exactly what you need to do to prevent apps you purchased from re-downloading if you want a newer version of the app. It was frustrating to me at first as well but Apple is NOT to blame. Its a solid idea allowing you to download a app you previously purchased especially if you accidently deleted it or any number of reasons you might want it back such as a new device and you can or have not done a backup. The advice is just that advice, remember experience is the best teacher, learn EVERYTHING about your devices. Just some 'advice'.
Universe out.. nuff said.

Aug 29, 2015 2:39 AM in response to walkerwrby DJB23,Here's the answer, it CAN be done. Follow these steps:
- Open iTunes up
- Go to your account and the purchased section of it
- At the top there's two options; all / not in my library... Choose either one but the latter one brings everything up you'll want to delete
- Find the app or apps you want to delete
- This is where Apple catches you out as it WAS easier before but this time it is a bit crafty. Hover your cursor over the TOP LEFT CORNER of the square until a little 'hand' appears and just click. Where that hand appears there used to be an 'x' to 'delete' the app and take it out of your cloud
- End the task in the app store and open it back up and check that it's done (it will be fine) but just to make sure
I've read a few posts about this and about storage but it has nothing to do with the storage section so it's been misinterpreted by a few people. Hope that helps
