On my iPhone under "Store" I am attempting to turn on Auto Downloads for Apps (I'm in the UK, so no Music Downloads yet). When I move the slider from Off to On, it will stay there for a few seconds and then ping back to Off. I don't have this problem on my iPad, and I use the same iTunes account across both devices. Anyone else seen? Bug? Workaround?

I’ve had this problem since the iPhone 4. I’ve done everything in this thread and nothing has helped. I also recently contacted Apple about the issue, Apple Engineers went through my phone remotely and are baffled. It’s like the data jams in my phone preventing automatic downloads, and o assign notifications from apps and even emails. It’s been horrible. I’ve thought about switching to Android for a cycle and coming back in hopes that my bad juju leaves the system.
Bizarre... I'm in the UK and mine stays on. Have you tried restarting your iPhone to see if that fixes it? Or try signing out of Apple ID and back in.
Tried on and off, tried soft reset (home/off) and signing in and out of Apple ID... It is set on my Mac and set on my iPad but it just won't stay set on my phone. The "Cellular" button stays on, but not Apps or Books...
Are you using iOS 4.3.3?
Yes I am, just haven't updated my profile on here... 4.3.3 (8J2) according to About. On Vodafone.
Same problem with only one of 3 iPads and two iPhones. Tried reset, restore, toggling account. Still won't work on just one iPad.
Same here, works on one iPad one iPhone but the second iPad is doing the same thing.

Same here. Worked on iPad and iMac, will not stick on iPhone. Using 4.3.3, tried reboot. Also tried downloading a previously purchased app (according to statement in the account info on the iPhone, downloading a previously purchased app will activate iCloud beta also).
same problem here, glad i'm not the only one having it. i'm on 3gs in the UK, running 4.3.3 and itunes 10.3, still doesn't want to stay on. Even though it's ticket on in itunes.
In the settings > store, i signed out and signed back in again, and it seemed to work. Give it a bash and see if it works.

Worked for me too. Hadn't tried that since earlier posts had indicated that it didn't work.
It may not stay on, even though you signed in and out on the phone because there are T&C's to accept in iTunes when you update to 10.3(.1). It will prob work after you have updated and agreed to those...? Just a thought.
Logging out/in worked for me. After a full backup/sync with iTunes 10.3.1 with no success, all I had to do was log out and and log in. Thanks so much. It's funny though, my wife didn't have to sign out/in to get the settings to stick. Weird. thanks again.
