3 different xserves, 1 kvm, 1 cinema = no video

I have a somewhat of a huge issue at hand. The following three Xserves are hooked up through the switch (all appropriate adapters from Apple) and converter to the cinema yet there's no video displayed on the cinema.

Mini DVI -- 2x3ghz dual core xeon on 10.6 (Xserve1,1)

VGA - dual 2ghz PPC g5 on 10.4 (RackMac3,1)

Mini DisplayPort -- 2.293ghz quad core xeon on 10.6 (Xserve3,1)

dvi to mini-dp converter: <http://www.gefen.com/kvm/dproduct.jsp?prod_id=8913>

24" apple led cinema

When connected over VNC you'll see the server will "sense" the monitor and take it's resolution and aspect, then if you disconnect the cable or change the port on the switch it changes back to a different res/aspect and options under Preferences -> Displays change. So it knows it's there... just no video comes through.

Even taking the switch out of the equation so that it goes Xserve -> converter -> cinema gives no video on the screen. However, the newest Xserve will hook up to the cinema directly using Mini DP and display video on the cinema just fine.

Ironically I used this switch, converter, and cinema on a set up of Mac Minis, all Mini DVI, and that posed no issues.

Does anyone have any ideas? ARD is an option, but we don't want to deadhead a bunch of equipment.
