Suggestions for iPad lap desk?
It is obvious I am going to need some kind of lap desk for my iPad. I use it a lot for writing, and a lap desk is essential. There are hundreds of them on
the market. Does anyone have one they can recommend?

We have 3 different sized lap desks out, Deck 13, 15, and 17. I think the 17 inch version will give you enough room while you're writing with the iPad on the lap desk. We also have a few prototypes of 27 inch decks and that might work, too. http://grifiti.com is our site. We're running a holiday sale on Amazon right now as well so the $36 Deck 17 is only $13 bucks (and yes, they're all selling well at that price!). If you want to be a beta tester for us shoot me a note and I can get you a sample as well. phil at grifiti.com. Below is the Deck 13 with the iPad2...it's a bit smaller than what you'll need if you're writing as well. Another option is our Dootle notebook cases with writing pads...but those wont' be live until January, 2012.
I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link.

'The Book Seat', while initially designed for books, works perfectly with an iPad or electronic readers.
Amazon in the USA sells them, as well as various retail outlets.
The image below shows the iPad in portrait mode, I prefer mine in Landscape mode.
It can be adjusted to almost any angle, which is more convenient than the fixed angles on many cases.

This is not exactly what you you are asking about but I have the incase Lounge Case for the iPad 2. The current web address for the product is http://www.goincase.com/products/detail/lounge-case-cl57929. It basically adds a bean bag to the back of the iPad. It is a bit bulky but it does provide a very flexible stand and it does make it easier to work with. If you have specific questions, please post.
you could always build your own, that is what i did, I used a cheap lap table, 13$ and a suction cup mount for ipad from amazon 12$ and some hardware from local hardware store 4$. built my own that has room for my keyboard. Works great and its cheaper than anything on the net.
If I were going to buy one, it'd probably be this one from Levenger:
HTTP://www.levenger.com/PAGETEMPLATES/PRODUCT/Product.asp?Params=Category=5-344| Level=2-3|pageid=614#BVRRWidgetID
This would accommodate the Apple wireless keyboard and the iPad angled up with its Smart Cover, which is my setup for writing. (I prefer using a desk or table, however.)
Do think about how heavy or light it should be, how big or small and where you'll store it. And consider a roll- up or slide- up laptop desk as another alternative.
