Q: Cannot copy a newly purchased movie to our iTouch.

We just bought a current movie from iTunes and cannot copy it to either of our iTouches because it "cannot be played on this iPod. Why is this happening? How are you supposed to know if it can or cannot be played on the iTouch. My daughter just wasted $10 and is very upset that she can't watch it.

Also, i read in some other posts that you can go into the Advanced Menu and select "create ipod or iphone version." However, it is not highlighted in my drop down menu and won't let me do that.

Incompatible format.The 3G and earlier iPOd can only play SD videos. See:
iTunes: Frequently asked questions about viewing and syncing videos
iTunes: May be unable to transfer videos to iPhone, iPad, or iPod

thx, yes, I saw that. But I also saw where you supposed to be able to create an ipod version out of the movie....that option is grayed out and I cannot figiure out how to convert it to an SD version within itunes....

Try redownloading the SD version by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
It appears you have the HD version
