Can I copy a slideshow from an iphoto album to a CD?

What is the intended use of the slideshow? To transfer to another computer? To play on a TV set? What? That will determine what you do.

Yes you can. But before, you must export a slideshow as a movie...and after you can burn it...CD or DVD..as you want.
