Palm Hot Sync Using BlueTooth Not Working Anymore

I tried everything from deleting the pairing to pairing them again and restarting the computer. It appears I've lost that ability to hot sync using bluetooth. Hot syncing wasn't a problem until I upgraded to 10.4.4. I'm not sure if the upgrade is the cause of it so if anyone could help, I'd appreciate it very much.

After an unsuccessful attempt, I get this message: Unable to initiate HotSync operation because the port is in use by another application.

I contacted Palm yesterday (1/30/06) and they said that Apple was "aware" of the problem with HotSync and Bluetooth. Palm of course said that their technicians were working on the issue. The CSA with Palm told me that they hope to see a fix to this problem by February. I really hope it's early February....

I just got my Tungsten E2 as a late Christmas present and I only got to sync a few times before that evil red "X" came to curse me....

I appreciate the info in this thread. After spending hours trying to solve the problem I finally thought of coming here. At least now I have two things: 1) a workaround that can be used until Apple gets their glitch fixed; and 2) knowledge that there's nothing to be done until a fix eventually comes out, so no need to waste more time.

Ditto wasting time. I tried toggling Bluetooth preferences: ports etc and got my phone to offload one msg at a time, but then had to retoggle, try again and hope. Gave up in the end.
I noticed the status pane that shows 'paired:configd:fav:connected:serial' would show the connection as 'no' until it flicked 'on' for a fraction of a second then the big "disconnect" button activated by itself and the connection was lost - it's as though as soon as the connection is made something overrides it. Updates!! -last month it was itunes screwing up now its bluetooth.....

I recently bought a Treo, and one of the mail reasons was for its bluetooth capabilities. I had most of the same problems as you. Under bluetooth settings it wouldn't pair, I would enter the key from my eMac, but it supposedly wouldn't finish pairing. I went to Palm's support and found something, I have had no issues since. As long as bluetooth is capable on the computer and you have at least entered the key into the phone, you should be okay. Go to your hotsync app, open it, then check connection settings. Only bluetooth pda should be checked. Then go to conduit settings. If you don't look over these hot syncing will take forever. The only things I have hotsyncing do is the iSync conduit, synchronizing media, and synchronize memos. Anything else takes WAY to long. Other than that, I have absolutely no issues with doing a hot sync. Hope that helps anyone out there.

Same problem here with my Treo 650.

After many hours of researching and trial/error,
here's what I found:

I'm using Missing Sync instead of the Palm Sync, but
this may be helpful nonetheless.

1. Uninstall and reinstall Missing Sync.
2. Trash bluetooth preferences.
3. Repair permissions.
4. Attempt to sync - may or may not work.
5. While attempting to sync, open the bluetooth
preferences
6. Toggle the services on and off in the preferences
and you may be surprised when your device begins
syncing.

Let us know if you find anything else out.

Michael

michael i also use missing sync. what i found to work is right after i click the hot sync button on my treo 650 i turn off discoverable on the mac os side of things. i then get a sync

hope this helps
