Hello,
I recently upgraded to iTunes 6.0.2.23 (WinXP Pro SP2) and now find that artowrk that I have scanned does not import.
I use Photoshop 6 to make decent JPEG scans, sampled down to 500x500 pixels which I typically add manually after ripping the specific CD.
I have used various programs (e.g. iTunes Art Importer) that took images from Amazon.com, but often found no images, wrong images or scrappy scanned images..... anyway, enough to bite the bullet and do my own scans which are much better.
Anyway, the previous iTunes version, 6.0.0.18, and earlier showed no such problems.
I have confirmed the scans are good and can open in any program that supports the image format (Photoshop, PowerPoint, Word, ACDSee, Paint etc)
I have also tried saving images as PNG and this also fails to import.
The issue is as follows... I select a track and do a Get Info > Artwork tab > Add...
This brings up a browse window and I scan for the appropriate image, which is selected and OK'd but other than a "blue" halo border which I get when I'm back in the Artwork tab, no image is imported. Its just blank.
My current work around, is to open the scanned artwork back in Photoshop, copy it (to Windows clipboard) and then switch back to iTunes and then use a right click to Paste (which is now enabled) the art work into the track.
This works, so I then select "next" and repeat the paste operation for the given number of tracks on the album.
Nothing I do in Photoshop has changed, I can see 100's of earlier scanned CD covers I have amassed.
Now for the spanner.... If I go to an earlier album in my collection (iTunes 6.0.0.18 or earlier) which already has artwork per track, I can also not at the scans I have done today (even though the JPEGs are OK in other apps).
However, if I look at my latest imports/rips of today (since using iTune 6.0.2.23) and look to add artwork, I can add images of earlier albums that I have scanned !?!?
This seems very strange behaviour, but nonetheless, it seems to be with this version of iTunes 6.0.2.23
No inclination to revert back to 6.0.0.18 as this seems a real problem and I trust the folks at Apple will investigate and update iTunes.
