Could you be more specific and provide more information on what you did? "Nothing changed" means what?

Joe, are you sure that you have connected all the proper cables? And that the new drive is Mac compatible and the right size - 3.5" SATA?
If the answers are all yess, see if you can p;ut the ailing mac in
Target Disk Mode and then run Disk Utility to repair it.
Theres a ? in the center ofd my computer when i turn it on. I cant get past it to make my computer function.Could a dead battery cause this problem?
