Hi,

I just got an iPhone (thru Verizon) and wanted to set up my Gmail account.  However, I keep getting an error message saying "Cannot Get Mail.  The use name or password for "imap.gmail.com" is incorrect.  I've triple-checked my account and password, and those are right.  What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

Did you set it up with the native Gmail account under Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account > Gmail? If not, do so. Also, make sure you are entering the full myname@gmail.com address, not just the user name.

Another trouble shooting step would be to change your Gmail password from your computer, and then try to connect with the new password (as a test).

    Hope that helps!

I am having same issue and did all the steps you describe above, but still no luck.  Very frustrating I can't get my email on my new phone.

i ran into the same problem today when i got my new iphone 4 S and trying to setup my gmail on my iphone 4 S. it was not working until i followed the video on youtube.com.

you do not need to do anything besides follow the steps in the video and it worked for me.

    this is the video:

    SOLUTION:

    1) Settings

    2) Mail, Contacts, Calendars

    3) Add Account

4Scroll all the way down on the list and pick Other (DO NOT PICK Gmail from the list - THIS DID NOT WORK for me)

    5) Add Mail Account

    Name: Your Name

    Address: blah-blah@gmail.com

    Password: Your Gmail Password

    Description: Your Gmail

    Incoming Mail Server:

    Host Name: imap.gmail.com

    User Name: blah-blah@gmail.com

    Password: Your Gmail Password

    Outgoing Mail Server:

    SMTP: smtp.gmail.com

    That's it! Good luck
