Me too. I went back to 1.0 and my iPod is playing videos and the rating screen does NOT stick. I'm happy.

    Strange!

Having taken the 5-yard penalty and gone back to 1.0, I looked at my iPod in the office using Windows 2000. It looked okay, so I downloaded some .ACC's from my iTunes library. It looked okay, so I downloaded some .mp3's from the same library. It looks great - all the music is there, and nothing seems to skip.

Apple ? Do you think you have a bug in handling the XP driver and are okay with the Windows 2000 ?

Next thing to try is to update to 1.1 while using Windows 2000.

First, though, I need to be able to dual-boot my home PC to get to Windows 2000 for iPod and XP for everything else.

****, it's taking forever for the ipod to get updated.

It's been more than 10 minutes and I still have the window about the ipod being updated.

Is this normal? What should I do?

I purchase the 60 GB video as well and fortunatly i haven't had any problems as of yet. I uploaded the firmware 1.1 and vidoes and movies still work fine.

I use PQ DVD to iPod Video Converter to convert my movies and videos. I'll post the web site if any is interested.

I know you allready made it - but for you others, atleast mac users, the iPod updates are all stored in Applications > Tools (not sure I've got a swedish version) > iPod Updates

There you'll find ALL the old ones you've downloaded.

I'm most concerned with the backlight issue.

    Michael,

My 5th Gen 30Gig did the exact same thing. Video was fine. It would randomly play a couple of seconds on a track and skip to the next track. I have my music encoded with the Apple Lossless Encoder and thought that was the problem.

So I made a note of the songs that skipped and encoded those at ACC 128 bit thinking the problem was encoding. Not a chance. In fact, the same songs wouldn't skip consistently.

After returning all files back I went back to 1.0 and paradise is once again playing flawlessly in my mind. Oh happy days. I have been a long time Windows user and have learned over the years that if it is performing perfectly, leave it alone. I guess the same applies for Apple.

Funny thing is, I got it for christmas and go to sleep with it plugged in my ears every night. I love it with the Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5 Pro monitors. I was prepared to live with the random skips and be happy. I have never been that love sick over any electronic toy I have ever owned.

Apple, get the problem fixed. Guys, just be patient.

Did you have any joy sorting this? After updating to 1.1 my 'Do not disconnect screen' stayed on for ages. I called Apple support and they got me to do a full restore. I have done this - it took almost 5 hours to put all my songs back on - and now whenever I do an update, my ipod does not automatically disconnect itself like it has always done. Any ideas?

If your iPod is running okay, I suggest leaving it at 1.0 until another update is available to TEST.

    Alright.

Today, my friend came to me with her iPod video, which was freezing during movies, had backlight issues and songs would freeze, stick and continue to play a same line over and over. I tried using the discs that the iPod came with, to downgrade. That didnt work. Finnaly, I just reset it, she poped some videos and songs on there, and it works very, very well.

What happens when you all try to reset? or have you not tried yet.

i did the reset and no luck. i should have listened to you all and not upgraded to 1.1. i did the upgrade and vids would now stop after about 30 sec of playback and then start again w/ no audio. i had to uninstall the 1.1 updater, reinstall the 1.0 from my cd that came w/ the ipod, and to a Restore. Im readding all my songs/vids/pics right now. hopefully going back to 1.0 will fix the vid problem. :O(
