Hi I need help! I tried to update my 30g video Ipod with updater 1.1. I restarted my computer like it told me to, and then connected my ipod. I asked it to update and a warning came up saying something about the firmware. I closed the warning and tried to disconnect. I can't switch it on now as everytime I touch it the apple screen comes up followed by a folder with an exclamation mark, then it shuts down and switches itself back on again. This happens no matter what I press on the ipod. What can I do??????

News is that Apple is aware of this and are working to get it fixed I believe.

Don't do that. too many buggy...
I have 1.1 software with no sound problem, backlight problem, sometimes stop motion while playing movies.

Apple changed the function of "holding menu button", instead of toggling the backlight, it now takes you back to the main menu.

I don't see any point in that "new" feature, who the bleep needs it? Give me back the backlight toggle!

Everybody is complaining about the backlight. How come, all you have to do is touch the click wheel and it comes back on...

And what if you've switched it off? What if you can't read the screen - how are you going to navigate menu's to switch it on again????

Well, sometimes on bright sunny days or other brightly lit places, it's pretty useless to have the backlight on. Also, I often turn off the backlight to save battery power, especially when I'm watching long videos in a well lit enviroment.
Also, it is rather a habit of mine, since I had two other iPods (2G and 3G) before thatone.

I didn't mean to imply, this function was crucial for me, but still, I don't see why they should replace it by the actual "go to main menu"- behaviour!

How do I reset back to version 1.0??? Will I have to "re-load" every freaking thing???

Yup, soft reset didn't do a thing. Revert back to 1.0 was the only way to get it working with videos again on my 60GB.

    Alright.

Today, my friend came to me with her iPod video,
which was freezing during movies, had backlight
issues and songs would freeze, stick and continue to
play a same line over and over. I tried using the
discs that the iPod came with, to downgrade. That
didnt work. Finnaly, I just reset it, she poped some
videos and songs on there, and it works very, very
    well.

What happens when you all try to reset? or have you
    not tried yet.

Remove 1.1 from your computer and re-install 1.0 with the CD that came with your iPod

Seems like there a lot of reports of 60GB iPods getting messed up. I have a 30GB but haven't updated yet. I don't plan on it until the next update comes out, soon hopefully
