Need help setting up more ethernet ports while using airport express

I bought airport express and I have modem from cable person which has only one ethernet port. Now I bought vonage internet phone and need ethernet connection with either. Modem cant be changed so is express. My question is does ethernet switch will work for this problem. Can airport express be connected to switch instead of modem directly? Any help appreciated. Thanks

Although you can physically connect an Ethernet switch between the modem and the AirPort Express, this configuration will not work as the modem is only expecting one device to be connected to it.

To resolve what you want to do would require either replacing the Express with a router with a built-in Ethernet switch or getting a second Express and an Ethernet switch. It would be make more sense to do the former.
