My MacPro 1,1 died - Can i use the boot drive from that MacPro to boot another similar MacPro ?

i am in the middle of a video edit ( finalcut pro ) and it appears the logic board in my MacPro 1,1 is toast. Here are the symptoms :

Erratic cursor behaviour, Freezes on cursor moves, delays in powering on or off ...

i must finish this work as of yesterday. i thought i could borrow a similar ( or not ) MacPro and just pop my boot drive in it and fire it up. To what degree the replacement MacPro must be similar to my original one to be able to boot successfully ?

Mac Pro Quad 2.6, Mac OS X (10.6.5), Mac Classic II , PB 180C , ..., iMac G5

The OS on the drive must be at least as new as that Mac Pro.
