I was setting an alarm and the power button has been working for as long as I had the ipod touch 3rd generation. Now all of a sudden it just doesn't do anything anymore. Is this a known issue? Has anyone's ipod touch power button just up and stop working?

Yes some other users have had problems. Have you tried the standard fixes to see if it is a software problem
- Reset :
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore the iPod from backup via iTunes
- Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod

Wow, this is the weirdest thing. I woke up in the morning and the power button was working properly again. I have NO idea what happened. Now I have to cancel my case with Squaretrade. If it does it again, I will reopen my case with Squaretrade and get the new iPod Touch 4G instead.
