iPhone 4 doesn't recognize remote on apple headphones, although Mac and every other Apple device does. I tried to clean headphone jack with toothpick - no result. Remote on my apple headphones works with Mac perfectly. Is it a hardware issue?
If it is, can I repair my iPhone in US Apple Store? I bought it in Canada, but have no possibility to go there now.

No, my iPhone was never exposed to water. Headphones were new from the box, I never opened them. I wish I opened them earlier when I was still able to bring them to Store 😟
