Hi dears.
Recently I changed my HD3870's fan with the Arctic Cooler Accelero S1 Rev.2 silent cooler. This is much more silent than the stock fan installed on the Video card.
So the question is: how do I monitor GPU temperature to check if all is ok? In the event of too much hot GPU can I cause problems to all the system or only to GPU?

If the computer appears over 120ºF/130ºF, you can use the slide bars to increase the fan speed. Mac computers can still pretty easily run at around 210ºF, but the cooler you keep it, the better. Personally, I keep my iMac at roughly 100º.

unfortunatly I have to monitor GPU temperature. I don't need to control my fan. I have removed the fan from GPU and substitued it with a passive cooler and I need to check what's the temperature it reach after some work with it.

I suggested the fan control app because of it being able to tell you in real-time what your computer overall temperature is.
Thank's this is fine. I use iStatPro for doing this, but it doesn't have any chance to measure GPU temperature.
Do you think Smcfancontrol is better?
Maybe I can check overall temperature to have an idea about how the GPU temperature is?

Most of the aftermarket temperature readers, including Temperature Monitor, can tell you the temperature of the PCIe slot area, which is strongly influenced by GPU temperature. Short of a program from the card manufacturer, that may be as close as you can get without installing a sensor yourself.
