Shortcut to shared folder

I'm more of a Windows person so forgive me if my terminology is off. I have a small network of 4 iMac G5s with Tiger OSX. I have turned on File Sharing and have set one of the computer's drop folders for them to share files. From the other computers I use the Finder to connect to Servers and locate the computer that we are using to host the files. I connect to the computer as a Guest (Everyone has read/write access to the folder) and mount the drive. A shortcut is automatically created on the desktop pointing to that computer.

Twice now that shortcut has disappeared from the desktop and I have had to go through this process again to reconnect.
Is there a way for that shortcut to remain permanently on the desktop?
