if you have a .mac account - OR - you are posting your iWeb site on your own server - let us know the url so we can have a look at REAL WORLD examples.

good would also be if you discribe how "easy" it was to create the site, or how difficult, what you were not able to do and how long it took to actually create it. over time it would also be interesting to see how iWorks handles changes and how long those take (adding a new menu, deleting blog entries etc).

guess, that would be appreciated by a lot of people.

Just uploaded to my own folder (have to follow up on other posts - it's easy to upload outside of .mac)

Here's the .mac link:

It was a relatively easy process. Drag and drop all the way around, now I have a bug however on my on server, with random characters I need to trouble shoot on my host. This is annoying - but close! very close to the ease mac promised.

I got used to the interface with Omni products (Graffle, which I love) and to a lesser extent Pages, so iWeb was easy to work in.

The site was intended to be simple brochure about me - for that it works fine. (I would mess with the design more, but that's the fun part -I can.) I was disapointed I couldn't do sub -navs though (that I could find anyway), only with a blog or podcast.

Here is my link with the problems (seems to happen in any browser):

If I can't figure this out, I'll post it as a question. I know nothing about HTML (which makes me a pretty good tester for iWeb) If anyone has ideas how to fix it, let me know.

Design feedback too!

they are slow on mine as well. drag and drop, but no compression apparently. This mean I have to go into photoshop to optimize all the pics then transfer them over?

(I know I have to compress all the video, just thought resampling smaller images would be an easy thing.)

UPDATE on Weirdness: Every extra tab or return was producing an unwanted character on my site hosted on my own server (www.mediatemple.com). I can't get rid of the returns and still have the spacing I like. (Expect this will be a common problem on this msg. board shortly.) So i took screen shots of the layout in iWeb and dropped them over the text. It's kind of a goofy fix, but it only took two seconds and now I have this weird extra text box with trim and shadow which I decided was cool because it's getting late.

If there's a better / real fix, do tell.

As Rachel said, the linked URL does not appear to be valid. The unlinked domain URL however does appear to be working and may I say it's a very well designed website too. It seems to be functioning well and your videos seem very high quality. As mentioned before the images are rather large and uncompressed, making them slow to load, but I'm not finding it to be too big of a problem.

Overall great work and I can't wait to see it when you've sorted out your issues. Thanks for sharing.

Nice site!

Though, as with other early sites I've seen it looks like load times are very long. I've read much discussion on the inability to compress graphics straight from iPhoto, but it looks like the theme elements also load very slowly. Some of that may have to do with the hosting ISP.

iWeb's not bad for a 1.0 release. I'm sure updates are in the offing (c'mon iLife '07!)

🙂

Nice site, Kent! I'm awaiting my version of iLife 06, but eager to see how my existing dot Mac website is going to alter with iWeb.

Your Christmas movie is fun to watch... our girls are teens now, but your movie brought back memories of tons of toys Christmas morning. Our iMovie of Christmas included a few martinis later, after dinner, with friends and family... a slightly different version than yours!

Let us know of your updates.

Rachel.
