I have 6500 photos in IPhoto (Mackbook Pro IPhoto version 10.6.8) but only about 1500 sync to IPad2. Apple engineers are working on problem. One tidbit - I tried to export the IPhotos to a new file on the Mac but only about 1500 photos would export before it stopped and I had to cancel.
