Slightly odd rendering of Monaco font after 10.4.4 update?

The monaco font seems to render slightly strange in Terminal (without anti aliasing). For example, the 'z' seems one pixel too high, and the single quote seems thicker than it used to be.

I have a strong feeling this didn't use to be the case, as it struck me immediately after updating as ugly. Am I hallucinating, or do more people notice this?

PowerBook G4 12, Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Other characters like the V, and I and ? are also off by one pixel at 12pt not anti aliased Monaco. 10pt seems to work fine though.

BUMP !!

I am also having trouble with the Monaco font.

I use Moncao 9pt Regular in many applications.
It displays correctly in "Font Book" and "Eudora", but does NOT view correctly in "Text Edit"

I am on a new Mac where I did NOT copy from a prior Mac.

Any thoughts ??

rebooting seemed to fix my problem
(at least it seems fixed now, and the only thing I can guess was a reboot)
